The metaFAB Analytics Facility comprises a ThermoFisher Scientific Surveyor MSQ Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer with Xcalibur Control and Data Acquisition.
The facility is open for use by companies on a strictly confidential basis and many different access arrangements are possible. These can range from companies sending us a sample which will process and e-mail back the results, to a more sustained hands-on approach by the personall of those companies. You can use your own solvents and columns and operate the system yourself (after some minimal training) or use ours. Costs can range from £25 for a simple sample run to much more elaborate arrangements.

-
Our facility accommodates a single quadrupole Mass Spectrometer detector offering high sensitivity detection capabilities for High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) separations.
-
The MSQ Mass Spectrometer affords high resolution mass confirmation for chromatographic peak data, operational over a mass range of 17 – 100,000 MW.
-
The generation of positive or negative sample ions through either Electrospray Ionisation (ESI) or Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionisation (APCI) capabilities afford high sensitivity and a flexible approach for optimised sample analysis and assay development.
-
MS analysis provides significant advantages over traditional UV detection in HPLC, offering increased sensitivity, increased confidence in peak identification and the highly valuable provision of mass data in the identification of unknown elution peaks.
-
The Surveyor HPLC system, optimised for stand-alone HPLC operation or MS integration, enables separation, identification and quantification of sample components with short cycle time, and high sample capacity, offering high throughput and fully automated operation.
-
The modular system with integrated quaternary pumping options, temperature control, multiple injection modes and high sensitivity UV/Vis photodiode array detection, is operational in tandem with the MSQ MS, providing flexibility for a wide range of applications, from routine analysis, to assay development and analysis of complex sample matrices.
-
XcaliburTM software provides complete instrument control with data analysis in a Windows® user environment.
